Made by the Zeynel Abidin family in Turkey who are well known for their remarkable Ouds, Cumbus and Saz making. This little "pocket" mandolin is well worth the cost. Finished in a high gloss with a flat-backed pine body and sporting a mahogany stain, this mandolin is an easy size to manage. About 25 inches in length and just under nine inches in width.
The finished, laminate spruce soundboard has an arched top with internal bracing. The fret is directly below the nut, thus giving it a "zero" fret. The strings rest on the fret, creating a very low action. Four Courses of two strings each. The four lowest strings are wound metal and the higher four strings are non-wound metal. The strings should be tuned G-D-A-E, low to high. If you decide to switch out the strings at some point to light gauge mandolin strings, then on the 12 inch scale you can tune it as if it were are rare, piccolo mandolin at C-G-D-A...an octave above a Mandola and a fourth above a regular mandolin...producing truly unique sound.
The bridge is movable, or "floating" and we do not always ship it with the bridge in place to prevent damage in certain circumstances...you can place it where it is most comfortable for you. Typically, you would place the bridge by measuring from the top (zero) fret to the 12th fret, the repeat the distance from the 12th fret to the bridge placement. We include a soft travel case too! Made by the Zeynel Abidin family in Turkey who are well known for their remarkable Ouds, Cumbus and Saz making. This little "pocket" mandolin is well worth the cost. Finished in a high gloss with a flat-backed pine body and sporting a mahogany stain, this mandolin is an easy size to manage. About 25 inches in length and just under nine inches in width.
The finished, laminate spruce soundboard has an arched top with internal bracing. The fret is directly below the nut, thus giving it a "zero" fret. The strings rest on the fret, creating a very low action. Four Courses of two strings each. The four lowest strings are wound metal and the higher four strings are non-wound metal. The strings should be tuned G-D-A-E, low to high. If you decide to switch out the strings at some point to light gauge mandolin strings, then on the 12 inch scale you can tune it as if it were are rare, piccolo mandolin at C-G-D-A...an octave above a Mandola and a fourth above a regular mandolin...producing truly unique sound.
The bridge is movable, or "floating" and we do not always ship it with the bridge in place to prevent damage in certain circumstances...you can place it where it is most comfortable for you. Typically, you would place the bridge by measuring from the top (zero) fret to the 12th fret, the repeat the distance from the 12th fret to the bridge placement. We include a soft travel case too!
