This is authentic recreation of a loud biblical Nevel Harp. LAST ONE IN STOCK! *26 inches with 15 nylon strings for the biblical scale. *Includes a carrying case and a tuning tool.
*According to Greek mythology, Hermes created a lyre-like instrument from the shell of a large tortoise. *He stretched animal hide over the shell opening and attached antelope horns as posts. *A similar instrument with a skin soundboard called the bägänna, is a large eight or ten-string lyre, made of a trapezoidal wooden frame fitted with a skin soundboard. *Some believe this is the instrument King David played to temper the ravings of King Saul. *The bägänna's bass vibrations are said to bring peace to the soul. *The instrument, associated with the Ethiopian Coptic Church since the 4th century, was played primarily at Christmas and Lent. *Traditionally, Biblical harps are tuned to compliment the voice of the singer. *We suggest the following
notes for the strings from left to right facing the soundboard:
High E (.030”), D# (.030), C (.030), B (.035”), A (.035”), G (.045”), F# (.045”), E (.045”),
D# (.050”), C (.050”), B (.050”), A (.060”), G (.060”), F# (.060”), Low E (.060”)
High E is one octave above Middle C.

 TEN STRING LYRE HARP-SOLD OUT

|

|
********SORRY THIS ITEM IS ON TEMPORARY BACKORDER******
*Beautiful Ten String Lyre Harp*
The solid lacewood body lends itself to the soft gentle curves of this ten string lyre.
The ten metal strings provide a classical sound that is enhanced by the solid spruce soundboard.
When you are not playing, you can hang it up as a piece of art, it’s that pretty.
Tuning tool and nylon case are included.
Hold it upright on your lap or as you walk, and pluck both sides of the strings.
Or, lay it flat and pluck it.
8.25 inches wide by 16 inches long, 2.75 inches deep.
Here are a few suggestions for tuning:
An authentic tuning derived from Judaic worship music, where the instrument was used to accompany the singing of the Chazzan, also known as a Cantor. This style of tuning uses the Chazzanut mode; starting with the bass (largest strings) tune as follows: D E F G# A B C D E F
In the early Middle Ages in Eastern Europe, the secularization of the Jewish worship music gave rise to Klezmer music. Jewish troubadours, known as klezmorim gave the music a place in weddings and other simkhes (joyful events). The Klezmer music eventually blended with Slavonic, Greek, Turkish, Gypsy and even American jazz tempos and rhythms. For Klezmer music, try the Misheberakh mode which is: E F# G A# B C# D E F# G
Two alternative methods of tuning that work well with singers comfortable in the Key of G are (again bass to treble): E F# G A B C D E F# G and D E F# G A B C D E F# (E is tonic). Notice, in the second tuning, all the notes are the same but you're starting on D rather than E.

 LUTE GUITAR-Geared
 |
|
|
***STEEL STRING, GEARED GUITAR LUTE***
*The steel string lute-guitar is an attractive and lightweight instrument of a similar size and scale to a standard classical guitar, but with a body like a lute.
*In keeping with the character of a lute, the bowl-shaped body is achieved by edge-gluing together staves of uniformly thin hardwoods bent to a specific shape with no heavy internal bracing to retain its form.
*The bowl is made of two alternating woods: Lacewood (Platanus orientalus) is a light-colored hardwood that has color similar to maple and has distinctive rays that provide what is known as a "beeswing" pattern. A member of the sycamore family, its timbre characteristics are similar to maple generally providing a brighter tone than rosewood. The dark-colored wood is sheesham rosewood (Dalbergia sissoo) that affords a warmer mellower tone. The combination of the two offers a blended timbre as well as a desirable look.
*European spruce is used for the soundboard and, in keeping with the design of 16th-Century lutes, the soundhole is a carved rosette in an attractive geometric pattern which is cut into the soundboard itself and is not inlaid of different material.
*Most exciting is that the soundboard bracing pattern follows bracing used in world-famous Kohno classical guitars.
*The mahogany neck has a shape is similar to a classical guitar with a 45mm wide nut of ebony.
*The top of the peg box has a woman's head carved on the top.
*Using standard steel classical guitar strings, it is tuned like a guitar in e, b, G, D, A, E tuning.
*If it is to be used for lute music, the 3rd string may be tuned a semi-tone down to F# to enable lute fingering.
*The guitar is outfitted with smooth-operating gold tuners with black ebonized tuning key buttons.
*The overall length is 1030mm and the scale length is 647mm, similar to a normal guitar.
*Satin lacquer finish.

COLOR THOSE “C” AND “F” TUNING PEGS.
And remember, tuning pegs are pegs, not screws or bolts. If one
is loose, put a little chalkboard chalk on it so it grips. The same remedy
harpists and players of pegged instruments have been using for thousands of
years.
THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF A BROKEN HARP STRING IS TUNING THE WRONG
STRING. USING NAIL POLISH OR EMAMEL, CAREFULLY COLOR THE TIPS OF THE “C” TUNING
PEGS WITH THE COLOR RED. COLOR THE TIPS OF THE “F” TUNING PEGS BLUE.
THIS SIMPLE STEP WILL ASSIST YOU IN ALWAYS KNOWING WHICH STRING
AND WHICH KEY YOU ARE TUNING.
