Rosin Ideal for the psaltery, rebec and dilruba. When your rosin is new, rough up the surface with a file, knife or edge of a key. Do not draw the bow back and forth across the rosin; this will result in ruts in your rosin. To avoid ruts, and to wear the rosin evenly, draw the hair of the bow across the rosin in tight little circles. Make sure to cover all the hairs, the full length of the bow. You have enough rosin when the hairs develop a white, dull, build-up. Before you play, use your thumb nail to flick the hairs of the bow to remove the excess rosin.

Folkcraft Kantele - Sugar Maple Body With Engelmann Spruce Soundboard.
This Unique and beautiful Kantele was handmade in the United States by the two-generation team of Folkcraft Luthiers.
The body of this instrument is sugar maple, which is renowned for its hardness (mechanically) and for its bright, reflective properties in instrument making.
Folkcraft paired the maple body of this instrument with Engelmann spruce.
Thus, Your Kantele will have the bold, bright sound of sugar maple combined with the high-frequency brightness of the Engelmann spruce soundboard. (When we say bright, we are talking smooth projection, not ugly high-frequency distortion.)
With fifteen strings, you get a full two octave D major scale.
You could easily tune your Kantele to play a two octave C major scale if you prefer.
To play the instrument, you can hold it upright against your body, with the strings facing away from you, or you can lay the instrument across your lap with the strings facing upwards.
While the vertical position may be more traditional, Ivory enjoys performing with the instrument on her lap, as this allows easy use of both hands while creating music and singing.

Folkcraft Black Walnut Hourglass Mountain Dulcimer Kit......Have you ever dreamed of building a fine musical instrument, but don't have the time (or the tools) to prepare the wood for assembly? We can help you fulfill your dreams with the Folkcraft black walnut mountain dulcimer kit!
Folkcraft dulcimer kits are ready to assemble. All of the hardware (machine heads, nut, bridge, end pins, strings) is included; the sides are already bent; the scroll head is shaped, routed, and drilled; the fingerboard is already fretted (by the same luthiers that build the world famous Folkcraft and FolkRoots dulcimers); the wood has all been sanded to at least 120 grit; and detailed instructions are included with every kit.
You will need a few hand tools (a knife, a drill, a hammer, a screwdriver), sandpaper, and wood glue to assemble your dulcimer. For finishing, we recommend either polyurethane or a Danish oil.
