****SORRY****SOLD OUT**** MAGGIE SANSONE'S Big Book of Celtic Tunes. Over 158 pages. Intended for the Hammered Dulcimer and other Melody Instrument. Includes over 120 tunes selected by perhaps America's Premier Hammered Dulcimer player!
A LEFT HANDED BOWED PSALTERY can be made by reversing the strings -- the whole notes on the left and the sharps and flats on the right. I am left handed and play the right handed model with ease. I consider the bowed psaltery a unisex (I'm a product of the 60's !) instrument. I can make a left-handed one but it would have to be a special order with months of wait time and additional cost. Thus, if a person really needs the strings reversed, they can simply do it themselves in a short period of time.

SOUNDBOARD wood descriptions:
RED CEDAR - red color, sometimes with little white streaks -- maybe even a couple of small knots. Red cedar is a very knotty wood and difficult to get an absolutely clear red wood without any white or knots. Red cedar is a soft wood with a nice mellow sound.
WESTERN RED CEDAR - light brown to very chocolate brown. A very good vibrant tone wood - used on many classical guitars
WHITE CEDAR - white to creamy white - soft, mellow.
CHERRY - reddish, but not as red as red cedar. A beautiful hard wood with a clear brillant tone.
BUTTERNUT - medium tannish brown color. A light weight, soft hardwood with a full bodied sound -- a nice contrast with a black walnut back and sides.
with a clear sound, not too mellow or bright.
CHESTNUT - sometimes light tannish brown, usually with few or no wormy holes, to tannish medium brown, which can have many worm holes. It is a beautiful soft to medium hardwood

EACH SIGNED AND NUMBERED BY THE ARTIST.
The Mountain Dulcimer has various names. Sometimes called an Appalachian Dulcimer, Fretted Dulcimer and other names...they all refer to the same instrument. The story goes that back around 1832 the first versions began to appear in Floyd County, Virginia...not far from Roanoke.
Cabin Creek creates two styles: Teardrop Shaped, which is the South West Virginia style and Hourglass Shaped, which is the Kentucky style. For you, it is simply a matter of which one you like better.
Learning to play the Dulcimer is rather easy and you can quickly be joining in with your friends for fun sessions. Many people say that they find playing the dulcimer to be therapeutic, much as harp players report.
Of course, each Dulcimer is signed and numbered. They come with a padded, nylon gig bag, a basic instruction book, pick and noter. The HOURGLASS Dulcimer has Grover geared tuners and is 36 inches long by 7 inches wide by 2 inches deep (all figures approximate). The TEARDROP Dulcimer has Grover Sta-tite tuners and is 39 inches long by 7 inches wide by 2 inches deep (all figures approximate). Both models are 6 1/2 fret designs.
