Practicing can be made easy and fun when you play on a Practice Goose. The practice goose comes complete with a synthetic pipe bag, bag cover and a long practice chanter. The top of the practice chanter is the blowpipe for the goose and the bottom of the practice chanter is used for the goose chanter. The mouthpiece includes a built in watertrap. The practice goose is is a great tool for the beginner who is making the transition from the practice chanter to the highland bagpipes. A soft smallpipe case is included. The BRIAN BORU bagpipe was patented in 1908 by Henry Starck of London, England. Since Henry had the patent, we must trust that he was the inventor too. However, Mr. Starck may well have been given the blueprints, such as they were, by William O'Duane of County Tyrone in...where else? Ireland!
This bagpipe is named is in honor of the Great Irish King, BRIAN (aka Brien) BORU, who passed away, as a result of murderous treachery, in 1014. This great bagpipe is related to the Great Highland Bagpipe and is played in B flat. Of particular note is that our new, basic Chanter has FIVE (5) keys, extends the upper and lower ranges of the scale. It can be played with the same fingering as the Highland pipe chanter, though the fingering does vary slightly.
There are three drones comprised of a bass, baritone and tenor, all set within a single stock, which can either be played over the shoulder or across the knee. You can also upgrade to a Ten (10) key chanter. With the Ten (10) key chanter the range of the chanter is extended the full 3 notes up and one down, and adds chromatic notes.
You get to custom build your own set...choose your engraving pattern and bag color, even opt for the natural finished cocus wood set too. We include 2 chanter reeds, One SET OF EZEEDRONE SYNTHETIC DRONE REEDS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THE BORU PIPES, ONE full set of Spanish cane drone reeds and a Gortex bag is included. We include our HardBody, WorldTour Travel case too. This is not an absolute beginners bagpipe. This is a Warpipe! . THESE ARE NOT FOR THE NOVICE. The keyed chanter takes a little learning. The Baritone Bass Drone will blow the other pipers out of the water with the depth of the bass!

Don't make a mistake, our photo depicts a Seasoned Rosewood Set, but our Medieval Bagpipes are NOW BEING MADE ONLY IN AFRICAN BLACKWOOD. The Medieval Bagpipe is a more simple instrument than the Great Highland or the Brian Boru. Medieval Pipes only have two drones. You still blow through a mouth piece and use a chanter, without keys of course! WE INCLUDE AN INSTRUCTION BOOK ON MEDIEVAL PIPES.
These are sometimes called "Italian Bagpipes" and are simlar to the Spanish Gaita Gallega, the French Cornemuse and the German Dudelsack, though the drones on the Dudelsack would be forward facing rather than thrown over the shoulder.
These historic pipes come with three (3) sets of reeds, a set of plugs, a supply of hemp and if you choose the standard leather air bag, a supply of conditioner. Tuned in the key of "F".
The chanter has seven finger holes and a thumbhole...all on the front side of the chanter. We include our locking hard body, World Tour Travel Case too!
Pictured is a Rosewood set...simply because it was our prototype. We are only making these in seasoned, African Blackwood only.
We provide a padded carrying case too. Currently, these are custom orders and take from 9 to 14 weeks, more or less, for delivery. These are not "ebony wood", these are Seasoned African Blackwood!
