Hello, We are looking for something for our 10-year-old daughter. 20/11/2010
Dear John and Mira: The DVD we import from London is the best we have
seen and is really critical with youngsters who are more likely to respond to a
video than to a book. Trying to learn the chanter, three drones and keeping the
airbag full is difficult, which is an understatement. The sets either wind up being resold because the child
gets frustrated, or set aside for six months while they learn on the practice
chanter. |

NEW TO BAGPIPING?
You really want to learn to play the bagpipes and are anxious to have a set in your hands and to experience throwing the pipes over your shoulder and setting out on a march.
We know you desire to purchase a set of pipes. Learning the pipes, however, means you begin with a practice chanter. Every Pipe Major not only started that way, but still uses a practice chanter for…practice!
So pick out the best practice chanter you can afford and get yourself at least the Bagpipe Teacher DVD.
A good book will allow you some close up photos and additional insight, but to start, the DVD is a really good tool.
If you are young, or female or small of build…or if you will be practicing the pipes indoors a lot…SERIOUSLY consider making your first full set SMALLPIPES.
Sometimes called kitchen pipes, parlour pipes , fireside pipes or indoor pipes. These sets are smaller, require less air, and are easier to learn. They usually cost less too…which is not a bad thing.
And you can even buy a set in the key of "A" which is ideal to accompany vocals or a band, without overpowering everyone.
